UIC4UHFMRI projekt at the ESMRMB conference

06.10.2026 -

At the annual meeting of the European Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology (ESMRMB), held in Girona from 30.09.26 to 3.10.26, the Chair of Integrated Electronic Systems at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg contributed a technical presentation.

Christof Pfannenmüller presented as a poster a low-noise amplifier (LNA) with a noise figure of only 0.36 dB, developed within the UIC4UHFMRI project. The LNA is designed for use in the console of a 14-tesla MRI system. The presentation covered the circuit concept, the design process using EUROPRACTISE MPW IC runs, and how such a low noise figure can be integrated into a receive chain under the demanding conditions of ultra-high-field MRI. The work shows how advances in radio-frequency engineering can improve the signal-to-noise ratio and, in turn, image quality in ultra-high-field imaging.
The underlying research was carried out in collaboration with the STIMULATE research initiative and co-founded by the European Union (ERDF).

The contribution highlighted the role of RF electronics in advancing MRI and raised the visibility of the UIC4UHFMRI project within the international MR community. Thanks to the conference's excellent organization, the meeting provided an important platform for scientific exchange at the intersection of medicine, physics, and engineering.
